I've just recently gotten a subframe from Kirk at NESHO. I have a 93 mtx and I dropped the subframe and compared them and they looked identical. I bought gen III rear bushings and put them in there and started to bolt up the subframe when I noticed the transmission bracket was different.
I know I should have payed better attention when comparing but everything else lines up perfectly, except for the tranny mount.
The holes for this bracket are closer together by about 2 inches and they seem offset up and down by about 3/4 of an inch.
I've tried emailing and leaving Kirk voicemails for the last week or so and he has not responded, and I understand he's busy most of the time.
My question to you guys is: does this subframe sound like its from a 88-89 regular taurus? And if so is there any way I can get a tranny mount to fit it or will I have to get another subframe?

The SHO convention was this week. As far as I know, he doesn't do business during that week. Try again next week.

oooo alright that makes sense. So does anyone know if I'll have to get a different subframe? I have not been able to find a mount that will fit it.

Post a photo of the subframe transmission mount, and your MTX transmission mount held above the subframe mount.

ahh jeez I was afraid of that. Now I'm going to have to drop it again and drive an hour back to Spencer. lol I take it the atx mount will not fit correct?
Hopefully I can get ahold of Kirk this week and we can figure something out.
Thanks for identifying it for me!

What would I have to do to make it work? If I just cut the atx bracket off of the subframe and weld on the mtx bracket will that work? I didn't take any measurements so I don't know if the location will be the same...

Someone told me the rear motor mount height is different as well. Should I use spacers or will this be ok the way it is? I don't want to tear up any mounts if I do modify this subframe. I'm just disappointed because I traded a whole 93 atx with a seized motor for a mtx subframe, only to get the atx subframe. I could have just taken the subframe off of that car and still had the car.

Personally, I would want to hold the seller responsible for making it right unless the conversation went something like this...

You: I need a subframe
Him: I have an ATX subframe here
You: I'll take it

If I had been the seller, the conversation would have gone like this...

You: I need a subframe.
Me: Do you need one for a manual or one for an automatic?
You: Mine is a manual.
Me: I have one here.

I'm hoping Kirk will get back to me soon, I've left a voicemail and an email over the past 2 weeks. I'd really like to get this car back on the road. I'm debating wether dropping the subframe and bringing it back to him an hour away is more worth it then to try and weld on the right bracket for the tranny.
Is the fact that the rear engine mount height is different going to give me any troubles?
