After about a year of having these in my garage, Im going to finally get these welded up.

Ive searched and i see a lot of debate between loaded and unloaded suspension when installing these.

What works? Whats is the "proper" way to install these. I only wanna do these once.

:thankyou:

Suspension unloaded with wheels hanging. Just make sure the supports used for lifting are all in equal positions on the body. I have done at least 20 sets this way, and everyone has been happy.

no squeaking/clicking issues after install? I know when i did something simlilar on my Cobalt SS... it clicked afterwards.. lotsa stress on the new installed parts.

Also.. what type of lift would work best for these?

+1 for Marcel's install instructions.

In fact, I've done them both ways. Supported by the wheels (suspension loaded), and supported by the pinch welded jacking areas (suspension unloaded).

Never had an issue either way.

Guys doing the 'hot rod' stuff do exactally the same way. :) Nice to see this thread come up so soon after watching that. Good stuff!

If you support the chassis on a lift it will not be in the stress state that it would be while the wheels/suspension is normally loaded.

People would do this on Fox chassis mustangs (weld in with the chassis supported) then wonder why the chassis would be twisted/alighment off once the car was back on the ground - in some cases body panel alighment would be thrown off. Admittedly this is ca chassis with a lot of flex compared to a Taurus.

That said, if I ever add subframe connectors (assuming a design emerges that is shown to sharply improve torsional rigidity, another whole discussion) I would find a lift that supported the cars wheels, not its chassis.

To each his own however.
