Hey guys.

I picked up an Alpine CDA-9813 the other night to go with my Fosgate Power 250m and JL 10" sub I had waiting in my room.

I got it all installed, and placed the sub facing the back of the car up against the rear seat. It hits hard, but I find little mid range.

What is the best placement for this sub? I was thinking the subfacing the seats up against the rear seat...

and to piggy back on 'chops thread, is there any drawback to using expanding insulation on the trunk lid?

Lastly, I would like to upgrade all 4 stock speakers. Any suggestion on a good, reasonably priced set for the front and the rear?

TIA

most of the time the best place for the sub is against the rear seat facing the outside like you have it. thezeb.com offers cl-61a componets from cdt audio at half price. i've only heard good things about these speakers and the company.

For the sub, its just trial and error and if your looking for spl or sq. What you may think sounds good, others may not, and vise versa.
You could also do what i did if your looking for spl. I unbolted the top half of my back seat and removed the insulation(sp?)thats between the seat and the trunk. I can fold down my rear seat and the diference is like night and day.
For your other speakers, i would check out Pioneer, there pretty cheap and there decent.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out thumb

I know that for my car (2 12' Rockfords, "1200" watt Sony Xplod, sealed box) the best placement by far was facing the rear of the car, with the box pushed as far as possible toward the rear of the car. Go figure on that, but it is definately louder and clearer.

get some coaxial's for the back and some components for the front (highly recommend MB Quarts or kappa perfect components)

You aren't looking to get mid-range from your sub, are you?? The sub should be crossed over around 80-100hz, depending on what you like and what your other speakers can do. A sub woofer is only supposed to play sub-bass frequencies. Coaxials for all four corners is a good suggestion if you are looking to keep it inexpensive, components for the front would be even better though.

Same here, just two 10" Kickers with an xs50, sealed box. Just make sure you have all four license plate screws in, and that your trunk seal is not rotted to all ****. It seems the body of the car carries the vibration better when the speakers are close to it, making the bass louder.

And as Bill said, get the best speakers for the front stage--it's the most important part of your system, IMO.

I went and installed the tweeters in the dash where the auto headlamp sensor was located. It worked out really nice. The sound bounces off the windshield and fills the car. Like someone said earlier, get some really nice component speakers for the front because that is what you here most. I hope this helps you decide.
