Would anyone be kind enough to tell me damage is caused by wiring a GEN 1 starter solenoid backwards? In my infinite stupidity, I am almost positive I managed to rush and wire to backwards. Anyway the long and short it I went from a running SHO, to one where if you hook up the bat the car goes nuts (tach jumps, lights dim on and off, and fuel pump groans, etc.) I did check and put in a different solenoid and wire this one correctly but the damage is already done. So, I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what all can be damaged from this mistake.

I am un-done from this, as it took me three years to resurrect this SHO. It was a complete mess and in pieces when I got it. Well I just got it running yesterday, and then in my rush for inspection pull this.

Anyway thanks for your help.

The positive battery cable can go on either side of the solenoid. If you connected the ground wire and the positive battery cable to opposites sides of the solenoid it's another story though.
