So I took my '15 SHO in yesterday to have the driver seat cover replaced ( it had a tear in the leather from when I bought it just took awhile for the cover to come in) and have them figure out why when I go from reverse to drive my phone menu always pops up and I have to,select radio then home screen to,get it back to normal. So I showed the some spots in the paint on the driver side that had particles embedded in it and you could feel them with your fingernail. They look and feel to be in he base coat. So they are sending pics to FoMoCo. The dealer agrees that this is nothing that I could have done and are waiting to hear back. Any thoughts and has anyone seen this before and what was the outcome?

If the problem is indeed in the basecoat, had to be from the factory. If it is in the clearcoat, it is a good possibility that the paint was contaminated during rail/truck transport. Using products like TarX and IronX, followed by claybar will mitigate it greatly.

Had a friend who purchased and explorer that had defective paint... The dealer told her that it was not Fords problem but that she must have parked under a tree that dripped sap all over it... They never did cover it... She traded it in to the same dealer for another new car...

Well I'm waiting for a ford rep to come look at my car. They took it to a local body shop and confirmed that there things embedded in the base coat not just the cleat coat. They tried wet sanding and it didn't touch the things in the paint.

I had a build up on the spine of my driver door.
I filled a claim with Ford.
It took a few months but Ford finally came through and put me in a rental to paint it.
Took a long time , but its pearl and they had to blend both drivers doors.
