Strange Chatter

I have a 91mtx with 151k recently i have been hereing this chattering/rattling noise in the flywheel area, also it is getting hard to start i think that most of my ring gear teeth are missing and rattling around. how hard is it to pull the tranny and change it(ring gear). does this sound like something else or am i on the right track?

Does the chattering/rattling stop when you put your foot on the clutch? If so, then it could possibly be the throwout bearing.

the chattering happens no matter what gear or clutch postion it does change or stop when depressed or nt depressed.
