A while back I had some brake problems and I R & R Lt rear rotor, caliper, pads and break line. last week I am driving along and get a brake light on. I check the fluid and its ok. I turned on my bright lights for some reason and the brake light went out. As long as the bright lights were on the brake light would go out. Any suggestions, the light is out now but I'm sure it will be back?

I suspect a ground but not sure where to look. I hope it's not in the dash, could fog lights be causing it they only work with normal headlights on?

Is your car equipped with DRL (Daytime Running Lamps)?

Fog lights, unless modified, are SUPPOSED to work only when the low beam headlights are on.

Strange Brake problem

Found the problem. The switch on the bottom of the Master cylinder was shorting out. Got kinda lucky today. Got in the car and it would not come out of park, I had no brake lights so I checked the fuse and it was blown. I put another fuse in and saw smoke and smelled something burning under the master cylinder. Cut the wires will find a switch and connector tomorrow!

The only recall I could find was for ther cruise control. I search about 5 different ways with no luck. I bought a switch today for $27.00 which included the connector pigtail. I 'll change it when I get some spare time. If you stumble on that recall I'd would not mind seeing it but don't waste your time. It's easier for me to change the switch I think!
