I feel dumb. I've been googling this for weeks and can't find anything on it. I keep finding nice looking wheels for the SHO, and I'm at the point were the deciding factor is the weight of the new wheels. Does anyone know the stock wheel weight, or if its even worth worrying about on such a heavy vehicle? At that point I can just base it off pure looks. Then the whole search begins again

:thankyou:

it doesn't matter they are heavy as F_ _ K... might as well get 22's if you plan on going aftermarket since tire is a lot cheaper than stock 20"

some aftermarket 19's look pretty good but people think they are smaller due to the size of the car

p.s. sorry about the language but they really are heavy as F _ _ K! LOL

Hi Rudog, you may want to read that thread, it will give you a close idea of the weight by deduction...

The stock 20" EB Flex wheels weigh 32 lbs. The stock 20" EB Flex tires weigh 31 lbs (Goodyear 255-45-20 RS-A). SHO 20's would be close. Tire weight can be found on TireRack for specific Brand & size.

My 18"s (ASA-AR-2v2) weigh 23 lbs. My Conti Extreme DW's weigh 25 lbs.

When looking for wheels, you can often pick a Mustang fitment, if the offset is between 35 & 40 for 8" wide wheels. There is a bigger selection of Mustang Fitments.

Another light weight choice is TSW wheels styles that are roto-forged. There are 2 styles - Nurburgring & Interlagos. They come in 18", 19" & 20" sizes to fit our vehicles. Their weights are the lightest for their respective sizes that I've seen for one piece wheels. Discount Tire Direct would be one source for these wheels.

Lowering your unsprung weight is the best way to improve handling.

thanks to Bob and all for the good info. I'll check out the ones you mentioned. I'm thinking a set of 18's first with a more winter tire, then new 20's in a year or so, budget dependent. ATM getting the stock wheels blacked out may be an idea, although purely for looks. But hey, who doesn't wanna look good?

Nah, 22s would look silly on the car (they certainly look silly on Chrysler 300s). IMO even the stock 20s are kinda marginal, aesthetics-wise, but I'm not sufficiently motivated to replace then with some forged 19" or 18" wheels (all that money's going into the custom paint).

Putting 22's or 24''s on, is like Lance Armstrong putting on Mountain Bike tires for his Tour De France ride! They may look real "kick ass"!!!! but.... performance, handling and stopping really SUX!

I think of my 18's as "wearing the YELLOW jersey!:thankyou::woo-hoo::woo-hoo::woo-hoo::woo-hoo::woo-hoo:

I'm thinking of changing my handle again.... to "B.S. BOB"!:dribble::dribble:

Here are a couple of pictures from when the H&R car had 22" wheels on it... I think it looks pretty good IMO.

the 22's dont look horrible, but the 24's are just trying to hard. it seems there isnt really much in the way of weight savings by sticking with aftermarket 20's. at most ive found a few pounds, but nothing worth the cost. at least not untill i need new tires anyway.

maybe some 18's with summers...hmm i want my SHO to have a yellow jersey too. i have way more ideas than money:naughty:
