Stock Stereo problem - Im stumped.

Ya gotta help me here. I have a stock stereo that I want to keep - I like the look of it and don't want a 2014 unit in my 90s ride. It's the JBL, I think, head deck/with the separate CD player.

So, when I use the volume, up to 1/2 way its fine, after that the volume will not go up any more. All speakers work but I don't think the sub is working.

So, I disconnected the black amp in the trunk on the drivers side and lost all my sound. Reconnected it, then disconnected the silver amp and the problem was the same - volume only to 1/2 way. So I bought another amp off some guy on FB, problem persists. I have no idea what to do now.....

volume issues are in the pre-amp, not the amp. I would swap in a new head unit.

where do you go to get a new head unit with electronic climate control? apparently they don't have an oem for the 97 model

You don't get a NEW anything on these cars. You find one at the junk yard or post a 'wanted to buy' ad here to see if someone has one.

In my for-sale thread, I have 2 good used ones for the 98-99, which are functionally the same but the connector is different. To use that, you would need to re-pin the connector using the housing you have on your old one. If interested, pm me.
