I did the 96 brake conversion for my festiva / sho project and now looking at what pads to use. I dont think I will be generating much heat so a set of stock units should be good on the street.

Any other suggestion on a low dust pad for the 96 swap.

PS I used the search function for the swap and I ened up only posting one question. LOVE THE SEARCH FUNCTION !!!

If using stock pads make sure they are Ford and not Motorcraft pads.

Lots of people diss on the Wagner Thermoquiets, but I have nothing but good luck with them. Make sure the PN starts with PD and not MX though!

Make sure you use the taller 598 pads to touch the outer 1/4" of the rotor. I have used the PFCMs, but found the carbon to embed on the rotor in visible, rough layers during heavy track use. They never faded and it wears away in a few hundred miles, but it doesn't allow for smooth, easily modulated stops on the track. Maybe more intense bedding will help?

Akebono ceramics are quite good. I have them on my wife's 95 and while tip-in is a little light, they get powerful quickly. Dusting is negligible. Certainly nothing compared to my Hawk HPS+ pads...

I agree - any decent ceramic will meet your needs.

Paul - what's the basis for OEM versus Motorcraft pads? My understanding is that both are sourced by Bendix.

I'm wondering on how much bedding you did. I only did it once, but made sure they were nice and toasty when I did it. I'll have to double check, but last time I looked at my rotors, they had a nice blue tint to them. Almost no dust either..... But... that being said... I don't take mine to the track either, but I have yet to use even 1/2 of the brake pedal yet on the street.
