I replaced the factory rear mufflers tonight with a pair of Thrush "Flowmaster" style performance mufflers. This thing is TOO loud! I already removed the resonator and third cat and the car was still pretty quiet unless you stood on it. Now, wow!

Anyway, I had the opportunity to remove the exhaust tips so I could opening them up and weld them on to the new mufflers and discovered that the inlet and outlet of the stock mufflers necks down to 1 7/8 inch from the rear pipe of 2 inch.

I took some pics, pretty amazing.... 2 inch stock rear pipe is in the middle.

I'm going for a ride tomorrow, and do a seat of the pants feel on the new mufflers..

It would probably be easier to reinstall the 3rd cat, or a resonator. That would help tone down the volume a bit.

When I had my '97 SHO, I had Flowmaster 40s and no resonator. It was significantly quieter than someone else's car who had the same setup except with the 3rd cat removed.

Your no fun lol, um i think cherry bombs are fairly quiet my dad put them on his 02 thunderbird and they barely sound any different than stock maybe a deeper tone but thats about it. If your not going for loudness stay away from flowmaster.
