My 94 is still using oil.Just got a friend to drive her so I could watch. When cold car smokes bad for like 1 quarter mile then stops compleatly. Also if car sits for a while (7 or 8 hours) it does the same thing.I've read a lot of posts that recomend "auto rx",where can I get it in canada? It seems like valve seals to me especially since the 3.0 in the car had sat for something like 5 yrs before I swapped it in.Does anyone know where in canada I can rent the tools to do the valve seals an a valve shim kit from? Are valve seals a common problem in the sho engine, there seems to be a lot of posts about it? If I can get some auto rx I will try that. The car is actually using about 1 quart about every 400 to 650 miles not 1000 as prevously believed(Wife had added oil when gassing up and forgot to tell me) Anyone with an opinion?

Not sure where to get auto-rx in canada. Im not even sure if it is sold retail. I thought it was only sold from the manufacturer.

valve seals are a common problem on the SHO. Not always a "problem" though, unless you are burning a LOT of oil.

Mine could stand to be replaced, as I loose about 2 qts every 3k. But Id rather just dump oil into it than tear into it just yet. Lots of labor, and right now I need the SHO every day of the week.

Hopefully it is only the valve stems/seals and not the rings, but just changing the seals may not fix the problem entirely.
Actually I have run race heads with no seals at all with no greater oil consumption then with them. The key is that the guides are tight.
Iknow that .001" clearance between the guide and the valve stem gives the valve a noticable wobble in the guide. I suppose that .0005" clearance would be ideal.
Bronze guides can be fitted this tightly.
Also when the guides are worn, sorry to say, so are the valve stems. The bottom line is that there is only one way to fix this for sure and that is to rebuild the heads.
You can save time by buying another set of used heads with cams. Take them in to get rebuilt. Do a valve shim adjustment while they are off of the car and just swap them over to the engine.

As far as I know Auto-RX is only sold on line. Try www.auto-rx.com.

I do know the stuff works good and just as they say it will. But to continue after the treatment go to one of the high mileage oils.
