Still can't get hood open

I just can't seem to be able to get a good push on the metal tab that initially pops the hood. If someone could help me out with an easier way then that would be great.

Is it rusted shut? If you can get so where you can see the tab...spray some WD-40 or something of that nature to loosen it up...maybe a pry bar/hammer

Please give a bit more info for advice. Exactly which piece, where. I am a bit confused as to which metal tab.

Can we assume that you did in fact pull the hood release from in the cabin?

Yeah, the tab I was refering too is the one with the little yellow rubber thing that allows you to open the hood when you push to the left...doesn't sound good when I explain it, but I can't think of a better way to explain it...maybe this was not the thread for me to play Dr. SHO shrug

Yes I did pull the latch inside and it didn't pop the hood. LOL! I meant to mention that. I ended up taking off the front grill to get to the latch and now I supppose there is a way to tighten up the cable but I didn't have time to finish the job tonight.

I opened it by pulling the front grill off. It was very tricky to get to those push pins on top out with the hood still closed though. Then I unbolted the latch from the car and it is still in the hood. I tried to pull the cable real good with a pair of needle nose pliers and it still didn't pop off. I'm guessing that it is frozen and I am going to blast it with PB Blaster.

This is nuts...

nearly a month and you STILL havnt gotten the hood open?

I have one bit of possibly usefull info:

On my father's full size van, quite often you have to pop the hood twice in order to open the hood.

Pull the release... no click.
So you go to the hood, and press dowwn on it hard...
then pull the release again... click. Hood opens.

It might help shrug

Otherwise, I hope you had no real need to get under the hood while it has been stuck shut...

Kind of like trying to put a house fire out, but not being able to open the gate to the property frown

I can't tell if you got the hood open yet? shrug
If you didn't did you try going under the car reaching up and pushing the latch?
Hopefully you got it open. If not good luck thumb
