Couple of questions guys. Pulled the codes & I got these 4:

116 - ECT sensor ( what is that?)
172 - o2 Upstream (where is that?)
136 - o2 Downstream (where is that?)
332 - EGR valve not working

So on Sunday my boy & I removed the hood, took the intake manifold off:cheers: & put everything back on, but she stills bogs down. Another friend of mine who works @ Midas told me that I might need to get my converters checked. If I change out the o2 sensors wherever they are, will that get me back 2 normal? BTW Happy Trails @ the convention:thumb:.

yes....start by changing out your o2's there are 2 of the one for each bank of cylinders.they are located on your Y pipe just in front of your converters.
and your ECT sensor is what tells the computer what temp your engine is.
when this fails it can also cause your car to run poorly im not sure the location on a ATX.i only have had MTX's

o2's are around $45 each and IIRC the temp sensor was like $10.00 at advance auto

Code 116

If the car isn't at operating temperature when you test it you'll often get the code for the ECT aka Engine Coolant Temperature sensor.

172 - HEGO sensor indicates system lean (RH).
136 - HEGO sensor indicates system lean (LH).

Your car is running on the lean side or maybe not up to proper temperature? Just FYI the 02 sensors are located on the y-pipe. Just follow the pipe down from where it comes out of either manifold and you'll run into them directly.

Clear the codes and then take the car out for a run to get it up to temp. Then come back and retest to see if that makes a difference or not. If it doesn't then change the 02 sensors.

332 - EGR valve opening not detected.
For this one try cleaning out the nostrils out for the EGR. It's a simple proceedure that requires the use of a coat hanger with the end bent about 2 inches from the end, a little bit of Berrymans & a couple of shop rags to clean up.

Remove the throttle body from the intake, gently so you don't tear the TB gasket. Let it drop down out of the way and look inside the manifold. You'll see 2 set of holes. 2 on the top for the IAB and 2 on the bottom for the EGR. Spray a little Berrymans into the bottom set of holes using the rag to catch it as it comes out the other side. Small squirts will do the job. Then take the end of the coat hanger and work the short end into either of the 2 bottom holes and spin it around inside the ole. Then repeat for the other side. Be sure to catch any of the gunk that comes out, you really don't want that to stay in your intake. Then take a little more Berrymans and spray in there again to get the rest of the crud out. Wipe out the part of the intake there, reinstall the TB and restart the car. Your CE light should go away (unless the plumbing for the EGR is clogged as well) and your car will run a lot better.

Mine didn't run too poorly when I had that code though I could feel a little stumble right when the CE light would come on. Then when it would go off the car would run better again.

Most of the time 02 sensors won't cause big problems when driving other than just being annoyed with the CE light coming on and off. If that's your problem to begin with. Make sure that the car is at operating temperature when you run the test.

See if the above works for you before you go replacing the cats. It could be the cats but try eliminating the simple stuff first.

Thanks for the time & advice Bizzy & SHOTime. I'll try cleaning them again. Now should I retighten those 12 bolts on the intake w/ torque wrench? And if so, how many lbs.?

Whst is Berrymans?

Berryman's (B-12) is carburetor choke cleaner. Usually found @ AutoZone for about $3.00. I heard it's the best one to use.

Well, I to have a 1993 ATX. I also needed to change the o2 sensors. The good news is, it only took about 1/2 hour to get them out. I haven't gotten the new ones yet, but if they go in as easy, I will be very happy. I don't know if you have the 3.2L, but if you do, there is one o2 you can reach from the front, under the grill and the other one, I could reach from the back of the motor from the top.
