Ever since I've owned my 90' the gas pedal has been hard to press down and constantly "sticks" at about a quarter or half throttle. By sticks I mean it gets almost stuck in certian postiions and I have to press down hard to give it more gas. This only seems to happen if I'm giving it part throttle (i.e. keeping it at a constant speed). Is there any way I can make the pedal smoother? I thought about putting a lubricant on the throttle cable. Would this work? Any info is helpful. Thanks.

For the while, I would **** the cable with something other than an oil based grease. Also check the throttle body for binds, unhook the cruise control and look over all other under-hood areas for a possible bind. There could also be a problem with the pedal itself. If you cannot find the problem then you will find yourself looking for a new cable in a junkyard as Ford has discontinued the part.

It seems to be worse when my cruise is hooked up. Could this be the problem (i.e. a sticky cruise cable) b/c its actually stuck the throttle wide open a couple of times. I had it disconnected for a while but I hooked it back up and it seems to work fine now. But, like I said it seems to make the pedal super sticky. Thanks for the help.

This does help. I will check these points. What lubricant do you recommend BTW? Hopefully I won't be dealing with this for much longer.
