I have searched but it seems all the pics I want are dead.

I was hoping someone here would have a pic of the 2nd gen JBL speaker setup in the front.

I'm doing a full stereo in my 92mtx and I'm curious if there is room for tweeters next to the 6.5.

Also I noticed some pop out panels in the corners on the dash, whats under them?

I know I should go out and take it apart but I don't want to take the interior apart more times than I need to.
Its in good shape but old plastic is old plastic.

For those curious I'm doing JBL GTO speakers. 6.5 components in the front and 6x8 coaxial in the rear. a precision power 8" sub for the factory box, a precision power 2200.5 5 channel amp, and a precision power 2600.1 mono with a precision power 1600w 12" sub. oh and a pioneer DEH80PRS.

eventually I will get the alt re wrapped and do a second battery. but honestly the 8 and the 12 wont be up hardly at all most of the time so I'm not that concerned.

the front door speakers do mount to an oval shaped piece that is then mounted to the door, but I don't have a photo for you.

you can (and should) replace the "christmas tree" fasteners that hold the inner door panel on. you will likely break several of those taking the panel off, and the panel will rattle if loose.

Sounds like you know what your doing for the most part. You are wise to not take it apart too many times. How big is the crossover for the component set? There is not alot of room between the door panel and the inside metal of the door. There is some foam you can carve out but it's not great. I really don't like the speaker placement on the genII panels. I was lucky enough to buy the little sail panels that were modified and molded with fiberglass or something to house tweeter seperates. Whoever made them did a great job and they look almost exactly like they were a stock peice

The cross overs aren't that big I think they are around 3x3x1 some where in that area. I really want to know what under those corner pieces on the dash, if i could put the tweeters under them and keep the crossovers in the car and not in the door it would save quite a bit of work. and from the look of the door loom I will be re using the wires into the door and running my own wires up to the loom.

I would make some fiberglass tweeter pods but my current living situation isn't the best for projects like that. hence why all the speakers are* for the most part* bolt in.

I may just put the crossovers in the door pockets. its nice to be able to get to them easily.

I like the idea of having them mounted inside the cabin. I'm not sure about the corner dash pieces. I'll have to poke around in there when I get some extra time. You could always put this topic on the Facebook group. They seem to get good traffic there.

I think the tweeters come with angled cups to surface mount. i may just mount them on the dash on top of those corner pieces

the tweeters are very directional, so you will want them as high as possible in the door/dash, and aimed as much at the head of the front seat passengers as possible.

Usually I would advise against that but depending on the age and condition of the car, it may not be such a big deal. I would look at surface mounting it on the on the small plastic triangle sail panel on the door. after that maybe the a pillar trim or the dash.

I looked at the sail panels and they are just too small. I was thinking double sided tape to hold them onto those corner pieces. one of them has holes in it already but I don't remember if the other side does as well.

one of my A pillar trim pieces is hanging already so I may pull it off and see if I can mount the tweets under them firing at each other to create a sound stage at the windshield. I know I cant flush mount them but maybe I can drill a hole and hot glue them to the back side.

I looked around and picked some different components that will allow me to keep the crossover in the car.
