My opinion is subframe bushings. I had very similar symptoms. When subframe bushings are worn, there are lots of clunking & groaning metal noises. My steering would bind in sweeping turns due to the g's & sideways forces shifting the engine cradle & steering rack w/r to the suspension geometry. Go to SHO NUT (shonutperformance.com)to get parts. I recommend the aluminum replacements. I think these are the parts, but confirm w/ Josh.

V6 Aluminum Subframe Bushings (REQUIRES 2 Subframe Recall KITS) SNP-ASB 125.00

V6 Subframe Recall kit (2 of nut, bolt, washer, plug) (2 KITS REQUIRED FOR SOLID SUBFRAME BUSHINGS) XF1Z-5A364-AA 14.10 ADD 10% 15.67

If you're not a do-it-yourselfer, find a reputable mechanic to install. Don't recall $$ for install, but appx. 1.5-2 hrs labor comes to mind.
Good luck.
