When i turn my wheel left or right it makes a metal on metal sound, not a grinding but more like a squeeling sound.

fastsho,

if you can have someone turn the wheel and put your hand on the top of the strut mount(after you remove the plastic cover)if the mounts are going bad you'll feel it don't forget to get about the struts while your there and it will need an alignment after you do them if the plates have been drilled

I'm betting it's the upper spring pad rubbing against the inside of the strut tower. Hard to tell without being there though. That rubbing is what the spacers are supposed to prevent. I have the spacers, but with my lower springs, the camber necessitates the upper strut mount to be moved far outboard. I use silicone grease to lubricate the contact points up inside the tower. The wheels only need to be turned to allow a hand up in this area - nothing needs to be removed.
