This 92 MTX I just bought is full of all the usual SHO problems. The steering wheel has alot of play, so after doing a search, I checked the pinch bolt like some had suggested. Its missing, and its not laying anywhere in sight.
Does anyone know what size bolt/thread count etc.. this is.
The threads seem to be fine, so it may have vibrated out, or was removed and never replaced (the rack is a reman unit). Thanks, Mike

more rubber, more HP.....
I just removed, loctited, and tightened mine, and I believe it is an 8M bolt. Try one and see if it fits they are cheap enough. Or maybe it was 6M.

Probably shouldn't drive it (if you are) until you get the bolt secured. The pinch coupling especially with that much play can easily pop off and telescope up off the rack shaft, effectively rendering the car without any steering.

M8 is correct, as it requires a 10mm socket on the head. im not sure of the pitch but im thinking its M8x1.00 or M8x1.25. and as stated, loctite is your friend.

Then check the slider assembly, thats usually where most of the play in the steering wheel comes from.
