I have a few questions about the pressure switch on the steering rack.

1. What does it do?

2. Does it rely on info from the VSS to provide speed sensitive steering?

3. What would happen if it was unhooked?

Mines leaking,

And I notice the car fading in a turn

As a turn continues I have to add more wheel to get it to track the same line.

Shotime, the steering wheel and steering rack/tires are directly connected. Any fading or additional turn-in required have nothing to do with the power assist, but more likely tires. If the power system totally failed, the only result would be an increase in steering effort.
