I have this problem on my 92. My steering wheel used to be straight. Now its kinda steered to the right when i go straight. Turning right is a ***** and it just sucks generally. Any help or answers would be good.

Thanks
Chris

Not much one can say from a distance - something clearly broke or got knocked well out of alignment. Check upper strut mounts to see if they look broken. Suspension parts - ball joints, bushings, etc. Tie rod ends and steering rack to see if they are still secured properly and undamaged. Subframe bolt could've broken or the subframe could've cracked.

Many potential causes - need to look it over and see what looks out of whack.

Bad/unevenly worn/mismatched tires, bad rack, prior accident putting your toe angles way off, uneven tire pressure, bad steering components (tie rod ends, ball joints, A arm bushings) All could be a problem with a car that has been beaten to death like that one..

Either that or you just need an alignment

Tires are brand new...the car has been basically overhauled since you last saw it jay...the only thing left is the leaky sunroof...which doesnt make for fun times...but im bringing it in to work tomorrow to check it out..

I'd bank on worn or bent tie rods and and alignment.

Chris,

Check for a failed subframe mounting bolt. If one fails, it can drop one corner of the subframe, cause your symptoms, and create a severe safety concern.

shopower90,

Try to locate the source of the noise. If it's coming fromt he steering column inside the cabin, it's either a failed column slip joint, U-joint, or the pinch bollt connector to the rack input shaft at the firewall (behind the rubber bellows).

If it's coming from under the car, check your inner and outer tie rod end, the ball joints, stuts, springs, and mounts. If you're not comfortable about your abilities to inspect these components, it would be wise to seek help.
