Recently my car would not start in the park position. I read the owners manual and it said there is a lock, and I followed instructions to start in this situation. For a while it went back and forth, sometimes it would start in Park and sometimes not. Problem is, now it's always that way. Someone tried to start my car recently and I forgot to explain, I've just gotten used to putting it in neutral first. Anyway, any ideas on how to remedy this situation?

My guess is the neutral safety switch is on it's way out. It should complete the starter circuit in both N and P. It MAY be adjustable. Your best bet would be to consult a shop manual or better yet a mechanic you trust. Sorry to hear about your starting woes, but keep us posted.
