When I tried to start my car this morning it did not want to turn over. I had to crank it and then give it some gas before it would start. It also did this to me when I went to go eat lunch and when I came out of the restaurant to come back to work. Any ideas on what this might be. It sounds as though my fuel pump is making strange noises but I just had it replaced about a year ago with a walbro 155lph pump.

Could be the fuel pump...the strange noises it's making would be a good indicator. It should be a nice even electrical humming sound.

Before you buy another one (if it is indeed a bad fuel pump), check to see what the warranty is on the one you bought, I don't know what the standard warranty period is.

Edit: After re-reading your post...you say it didn't want to turn over. Could your battery be on it's way out? If your battery is going bad, the fuel pump along with any other electronics might not function properly.

check the obvious first before you replace the pump.

How old is your fuel filter?

If I'm not mistaken you guys are getting a load of snow right now.

Maybe there is water in the gas tank.

Leaving the tank empty when it's cold allows for condesation to build up in the tank and it gathers in the filter, freezes...bang no gas.

a bottle of fuel line anti-freeze may be a good idea before you get too worried.

I buy only SHell Gold and I have never had an isssue with fuel related problems.

Consistency is the key to avoiding fuel related problems. You can't go out and buy Safeway gas one day and Sunoc 96 Octane another.

Thanks for everyones advice. My fuel pump and fuel filter are a little less than a year old right now. I went and filled my car up with some Sunoco 94 octane and the car has started up fine ever since. I'm wondering if I didn't have a bad batch of gas or condensation like you said. My car was almost on empty and it is very damp and crapy here right now.

I always run either Sunoco 94 octane or Pioneer 93 octane in my car. I like the Sunoco better but the Pioneer is cheaper. Thanks again.
