Hey there everyone,

Long time SHO owner, first time poster here. First off I'd like to thank everyone here for helping me trouble shoot various problems that my uncle and I have had with out fleet of SHOs throughout the years.

Recently, as an (intended) act of kindness, I took my uncle's 95 mtx to a local oil change spot to swap out the oil since he was about 1000 miles over his range.

I'll always remember the time I fried my starter by forgetting to cover it up before I drained the old oil out of my car. As such, I asked the service tech to put a plastic bag over the starter so that it wouldn't get the dreaded oil bath. The tech looked at me kinda funny but eventually put the bag over the starter.

I waited for them to finish swapping out the fluids and then got in the car and drove home.

Before the wife and I left for a trip to NY I ran the SHO down to the parts store to grab some new wiper blades since I noticed my uncle had been slacking a bit and they were pretty much shot. When I got back in the car it didn't want to start right away. No problem, just popped the clutch and got it home.

The next morning I decided to see if it would start again, no dice. Threw the SHO up on jack stands and looked to see if I could find anything wrong with the starter. What I found was that one of the terminals had been broken to the point where the starter was not engaging at all. In my estimation, it looked like the tech's wrench slipped off during installation and banged into the starter (hard). Living on a paved road and never banging the car around, I know for a fact that it wasn't anything environmental that caused the starter terminal to break.

Whew, lots of info there to build up to my question. Sorry about that. Anyhow, what I'm wondering is whether or not anyone has had a similar issue or can conceivably see something like this happening. I plan on going back to the oil change place, i'm just trying to gather some information first.

:thankyou:

You can just buy a starter solenoid and with 2 torx screws swap that out for around 10-15 dollars. And you will be set.
