Why do we need a cover for the starter? I just saw something about making a cover from a 2 liter coke bottle. Why?

You don't NEED one. It's just a good idea to keep oil from dumping all over the starter when you remove the oil filter during an oil change. The 2 liter bottle method works great

Thanks. I am fairly new to the SHO game and have a lot to learn. Thank goodness for this place. I might have a chance to keep it on the road, if I ever get it back on the road.
