Starter, batt cables, or ignition switch?

For Gen II, I believe the positive cable is 3-gauge, and the ground cable 4-gauge wire.


6-gauge ? Maybe a 3.0L SLO . . .

Well, the replacement cables i bought are 4 gauge, and the stock ones are bigger than the replacements. I would say they are 2 gauge, but thats just a guess.

I know my '97 has 6 ga and am pretty sure the '93 had 6 ga. Anything bigger is over **** and Ford sure would not do that.

The SHO does not have any large current draws that would require the bigger wire when compared to a SLO.

Well according to this 6 gauge should be enough to handle the current, however I know mine is quite a bit larger than that, even though it is stranded.

Then why do the 3.8L Continental, Sable, and Taurus use a positive cable the diameter of most peoples index finger?
(likely a 2-gauge, if not larger)

Based on what I've seen, all the Gen I's and most of the Gen II MTX positive cables were 3-gauge based on the diameter.
