looks like you are doing a fine job, but I would recommend you come out west to find a rust-free example because like my body-men friends say "for every rust spot you can see, there are at least 10 more that you cannot see yet."

,Good effort, you are doing a fine job. The important thing is to build that long box shape that becomes the rocker panel assembly and the back wall is more important than the front wall that you see.
When finished that step, use lots of "seam sealer" to seal the work you have done, and open up the drains on the bottom of the structure to let the water out that either is forced in from the wheel wash, or enters from you sunroof drain.
The nice thing is, it all gets covered by the cladding, so you can ease up on the fine sanding.

yeah, makes sense. i reinforced the back wall with some new metal where it was pitted (first treated the rust). @sperold ..impressive sho list in your signature!
Some of the front of the inner structure was bad from that sunroof drain line. I did my best to reinforce it with some new metal before adding the fresh rocker cover.
@rubydist ..yeah, a west coast car would be nice, but this is what is available around here. also, my last resto was a hashed '73 MGB. I did a complete rocker, floor, and lower panel replacement. So, the SHO is kinda nice to work on.

Hey guys - I dove into rust repair on my '91. I'm welding in new rocker components and the dogleg on the driver side currently. I fabricating some pieces for inside the rocker first. Being a unibody, every piece is important....some progress pics and I try to keep this updated: http://eastcoastsho.jimdo.com/
Do you have rust under the fuel filler door? Don't see that in your pics.
BTW three years ago I sprayed all the rust I have with VHT Rust Converter. None of the rust I sprayed has expanded since. It really did the job.
