My ’93 SHO has been stalling occasionally since I purchased it last fall. I am a “back-yard” mechanic at best, but this is what I do know about it. The car runs great other than the stalling. I believe the stalling must have something to do with the fuel pump i.e. an electrical short? When it stalls, the car will not start until the fuel pump activates. Sometimes this happens immediately, or it takes awhile. I thought maybe it had something to do with the crankshaft sensor, thus it was replaced along with the water pump. In short, if I do not here the fuel pump, the engine will not start.

I would check the fuel pump, but also check the intake air bypass valve. Try pumping the gas pedal when it stalls and you are cranking it to get it started again.

Does it only stall when you are not on the gas pedal?

Codes are a good place to start...

If the pump doesn't prime the usual suspect is the CRCM relay on top of the radiator under a black plastic cover. This relay provides power to the fuel pump among other things. When you turn on the ignition check for power leaving that relay. If it's good then check for power at the pump.

If you haven't already done so, replace the fuel filter. A small piece of trash, in the right place could clog it up, and stop the fuel flow altogether. Then when the key is turned off, it could fall back down and allow the fuel to flow again for a bit until it gets pushed back into the right place.

In any event, it's a $10 part, and 15 minutes to put in, and well worth the effort before you start all the really technical stuff.
