Squeaky Speedometer Noise

I have a friend with a 95 SE, and the speedometer needle wiggles and speaks at any speed above 35. It sounds like it's coming from right inside the car. Would it be possible that the cable is starting to come out? Or would it be possible that there would be some corrosion within the cable that would cause it to act like this? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

If you unhook the cable from the back of the cluster and spray the end with some dry graphite, it should quiet right down.

But if I sprayed it with some dry graphite, would that stop the wiggle? I guess I'll be pulling the dash apart anyways, so we'll have to see....

Because there is no way to get to it without pulling the dash, correct?
