Ive kinda posted this before but i need a good diagnosis. so i have a 92 and the day i saw it before i bought it i was in love...bought in AUG of 04. It has been runnin decent gettin me up to college and around school and such through the year. it has 140K on it and i still need the second 60K done. I have this problem though right now and im wondering if the 60K will fix it...if it is fuel injectors or fuel filter or maybe something major. 1st and 2nd gear are usually fine...but in third fourth and fifth there is a problem. around 2K-4.5K RPMs if im cruising and then i decide to give it a little gass to accelerate or go up a hill or something it feels like it is boggin down on me a little...it was really noticeable goin on the highway to the girlfriends house this weekend. it feels like the engine just wants to hop out of the engine bay (that is an over statement but it gets the picture across) im just not sure if it is a major problem...like piston, tranny??? something...i dont know if this will help either but before my most recent oil change my oil reaked of gas and was really thin..i think my oil and gas are mixing somewhere...i know its a big problem can anyone diagnose that too for me...im hopin by the end of the summer to have my car growling like it was meant to but it would be nice to know how to get past these problems

Check engine light? Codes? It could be one of many things. I've learned my lesson here, the guys here have an automatic response to people who list their codes, and no response to those that don't.

Yea, post your codes. I would say clean your MAF, but if you have gas in your oil then its probably something else altogether.

i had a similar problem started like that, feels like the power jsut isnt there? check the spark plugs. mine had a gap that was almost twice what they should be. replaced the plugs and wired, as well as the oil/filter (i do that anyway every ~2500 miles) and it's "growling" again i'd say check the plugs first, its not hard to do at all, before you go and start buying lots of filters/sensors etc (although if they havent been changed in a while it may be a good idea anyway)

if its more of a bucking/cutting in and out, i'd say its the CPS, but from your description it seems more like a loss of power. would you describe it more as the car is bucking, or it feels like youre trying to go up a hill in 5th at 30mph?

and i think its more of a bucking but its only between 2K-4.5K rpms beyond that its usually smooth again...i dont know if its a loss of power because i havent really checked if that was the case, because everytime it happens i try to give as little gas as possible or i down shift so i will be above 4.5k rpms

its its bucking cause its the CPS, it will physically like **** the car, as if the ngine is starting and stoppnig again, when isaid loss of power, it felt like it was chugging, which gave a bit of a pulsing feeling like the car wasunder too much load. it wasnt noticable at higher RPMs, best of luck diagnosing the problem, i wouldnt rule out the plugs right away unless they're brand new and not fouled.

Would cps cause it to only lose power between a certain RPM? I'd say cam sensor. Oh well, we'll wait for the codes.

528 (M) System shows voltage at pin 10 (is A/C on ?) or pin 30 (PNP, CPP switch)

542 (O,M) Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on

116 (O,R) Engine Coolant (ECT) sensor out of range

129 (R) No MAP or Mass Air Flow sensor change during "goose" test

167 (R) No Throttle Position sensor change in "goose" test (must get at least 25% rotation)

225 (R) Knock sensor not tested (ignore if not pinging)

I'd say run the car for a bit to let it warm up, and then run the test again giving it a proper goose. The fuel pump may be your issue.
