A while back my tach quit one my 89', this is ok 'cause i know the when to shift....but the other day my speedo. quit.

I manouvered myself under the steering wheel and followed the cable through the firewall and found it in the motor compartment..

I took it off and was in the process of unscrewing it from the meter adn just thought i would give it a turn, guess what it worked.

I put it all back together and went for a drive and it still didnt work. I took it back home and haven't messed w/ it again.

can anyone give me some advice or tell me how to fix this????????

Find where the line leaves the top of the tranny. Follow it up the side of the motor where it goes into the firewall. Just about 12 to 8 inches before the firewall it will have a connector. This connector has a pin that goes through the top to hold the then together. You can use a screwdriver and remove it. The part bad can be found at napa or oriellys. I think its the speed sensor. It gets screwed onto the tranny, then you attach the cable. I had the same thing happen, spent $30 or so bucks and it works again. Not to mention its smoother too. Something you might look into?
