Speedometer Problems?????

I thought my speedo cable was about to break b/c for a couple of months now it's been "bouncing" around, so I took another one off of a 89 in our local junkyard, but I haven't put it on yet. Today on the way to work my needle just pegged itself to like 150 and then would bounce back and forth from like 20 to 150. The weird thing is that my odometer works perfectly???? Do you guys think the problem is the cable, or the instrument pannel itself? Thanks for any advice!

when my speedo cable broke the odometer stopped working too. I see you got the white face gauges maybe the needle just came loose

Yeah, I think it must have somthing to do with the needle, but it's acting so weird. I just went out to lunch and when I was barley moving it would say like 30mph and it I sped up it would peg itself out again???????

When I had installed my guage faces theres was a bump in my tach so it would get stuck and then stop and then would go flying. So make sure that there are not any bumps.

instrument panel, my brothers mustang was doing the same thing.
