speedometer problem

hello everyone this is my first post on this website.
i have a 91sho and i am having trouble with 2 things
first ....the darn speedometer stopped working for me ....it was working fine and then started bouncing up and down within the 20-30mph range ....ever heard of this? could it be the cable? if so where is it located?
2nd i see a lot of the people posting are replacing the gaskets that leak oil into the spark plug holes .....how do i get to these gaskets? do i have to pull the intake off???

The speedo cable comes in 2 parts that clip together.Follow the thick grey cable from under the dash,thru the firewall.About 1 foot inside the engine compartment is the sopt where they clip together.Pull out the metal clip,and one of them are probably broken at that spot.

The intake and cam covers have to come off to replace the plug well seals. http://www.shotimes.com/SHO3.html has the procedure to remove the intake as well as many other maintenance procedures.

it's a 75 dollar set of gaskets from Autozone, including the 6 plug well seals, as well as the two valve cover gaskets. Make sure to get some RTV ultra black also, that is sensor safe

May be the speedo cables. In my case it was the speedo. 120k apparently was the limit for the planned obsolescence of my speedometer. I grabbed one with 45k on it off eBay and wound it up to my mileage. Voila, problem (bouncing speedo that eventually quits) solved.
