i get a buzzing noise out of my dash some times, I know its the speedo. Got a few tickets cause its not accurate, the guy at the shop says the speedo itself needs to be replaced cause the cable is of harder metal than the speedo. Is he crazy or what? I would much rather replace a cable that the whole speedo.

I had a sticker(part # or something)in my T-bird which fell off in the guage cluster which made a noise and stopped the speedo from working. Took it out and worked fine.

I'm having a similiar problem--past 70, the needle floats around (ex--if i'm going 75 it floats beats 70 and 80). I read on a previous post the cable needs some greasing...problem is i can't get at the cable...i took the dash off and the bolts that hold the gauges in but it wouldn't pull out...anybody know how to? thanks
in advance

to get the cable out you have to disconnect the end at the tranny, just disengage the clip and pull the cable out, then push it into the passenger compartment, then the cluster can be pulled out enough to disconnect the electrical connectors and speedo cable. Then the gold speedo cable can be removed from the casing and lubed with multipurpose grease, then reasembled in the reverse process of removal
