Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has an amp hooked up to their aftermarket speakers. Im not talking about the stock JBL amp. I mean aftermarket HU and speaker's hooked up with a 4-channel amp? If so how does it sound and is it worth spending the extra money for the amp?

P.S. Im planning on making a sound system with alot of SPL! :dribble:

I'm taking out my after market Subs and amp. I am TRYING to find Stock. I want the trunk space back and I never had the factory sub. If you Big enough it sounds NICe, but mine did not sound as good as I would have liked. I had to move my sub to the rear of the trunk(Away from under the speakers) in order to even hear it. I don't know why I never heard of this problem before. Well That's my two cents.

Mine sounds ridiculous (as in good), I have my box tucked tightly under the rear speakers. I had to remove the stock sub to fit it. If you ask me it's worth it. The stock speakers have aweful mid and highs. In the front mainly.

If I remember corectly the fronts are replaced with kenwoods, the rear are pioneer, in the trunk are two 12inch bazooka's in a bandpass box, on top is a 600watt kenwood for the subs, a 200 watt for the interior speakers, and a 1 farad capacitor.

I used an Alpine 5 channel Amp to drive the speakers and subwoofer. Click on the car domain link below.

I thought about getting a 4channel for the SHO once, but I don't listen to my music terribly loud. Now if I had bought components for the front, I probably would have.

But i was satisfied with my infinity reference speakers, even if they were only getting 22watts (rms) from my HU. My JBL CS200.1 amp and 8inch sub i had mounted in the rear deck was more than adequate. But I used the stock box, which hindered it a bit.

When I start swapping audio components into my Probe, I'm definately getting some components for the front, keeping my 5X7 infinity's for the back, pushing them with a 4 channel, and using my mono JBL amp for a 10 or a 12 in a sealed box. My ultimate goal will not to have a stereo that will declare my presense from across town.

If you're looking for booming bass to set off some alarms, focus your finances in good subs and a great amp to push them. And have a good box made for you. A headunit with a subwoofer output is also a plus.
