Hey guys I was putting my wires on with (I think it was the autolite double platinum plugs) and the wires go almost all the way down but don't sit on the valve cover correctly. I have herd before that this is due to the stupid crush washer that is used with those plugs; do I have to use that washer (I assume I do) if so, what plugs can I get that will make the wires sit right. If these wires don't go down all the way it will tick me off, so I do want to get some plugs that work, I can just use these plugs in my atx as I don't care if those wires stick up some, it needs plugs anyway.

The crush washer is needed. It is not the plug washer, but the height of the plug insulator that prevents the boot from sealing at the valve cover surface. I have not found a replacement double platinum or the recommended Motorcraft fine wire (FM) plug that has the correct height to let the plug boot properly seat on the valve cover. Getting moisture and debris in those wells is a risk to the cylinder walls when the plugs are removed. Any oil and debris must be purged before the plug is removed to prevent it from getting into the cylinder.

My past experience is the plug well caps never provided a moisture-proof or dust proof seal, even with the original Motorcraft AGSP-32PP plugs and OEM wires. If they sit a mm higher with the new plugs, it does not make much of a difference. Perhaps the fit is worse with some aftermarket wires, but the fit on mine with the Motorcraft wires is satisfactory.

I have toyed with the idea of using pliable rope caulking under the caps to improve the seal, but I've never gotten around to it.

I have considered using RTV, putting a thin layer of silicone grease on the boot and valve cover surfaces to act as a release agent so the RTV could be easily peeled away later on. Have not tried it though.

I have the Autolite DP plugs, and Autozone $45 wires, and they seat great. Just as good as stock, but 1/3 the price.
