i was doing the tune up. When taking ou the spark plugs they were all real bitches to get out. I beleive the gentleman that had the car previously did not use anti-seize on the threads last tune up. Anyway i got the first two out and the 3rd on broke. Literaly the metal part that connects the nut to the circle to the threads broke. breaking off the nut and the porcelin (including the spark gap thing) so all i have down there is the circle sticking out. i can actually see the arm. WTF do i do. I am totally screw i feel like crying. I can't stand this f'in car. is there an easy way to take this out? should I just drill the ******* then re-tap it is that possible? F aluminum heads. a mechanic friend of mine said the first few strokes should throw the metal shards away. i thought it would destroy it.

that sound nasty buddy. There would be no way to get anything down there to fix the problem.  i bet you are ******. The only thing you can do is try and spin it out with long handled needle nose pliers.
other then that i have no options to give you.

Nice going on the broken plug removal. I was wondering how it was going to get done. :salute:

Man, I definitely feel your pain. (sorry didn't get here sooner, just saw this post tonight) I went through that same headache on my '89 a year ago, only the metal hex part separated from the rest of the plug, and at the same time, only the porcelain insulator ABOVE the metal/threads broke right on off. THAT problem? -with THOSE heads? -I couldn't believe it. I was so stunned, and amazed at such a bad luck deal, I couldn't even utter any swear words - and when I work on cars, that's usually unusual.
I spent many an hour, and tried a couple of things to no avail, but finally just knocked the insulator into the cylinder, got my largest EZout of the set (prob. about the size of the one in the pics above) which fit into the plug perfectly, and extracted it right out. Then I rigged a piece of 3/8 or so rubber/vinyl hose to my very powerful shop vac and spent A LOT of time making sure I had every little piece of plug trash out of there. Some were too big to suck through the hose - the suction had to hold them at the end while I carefully lifted them out. Whew.
Though it could have been much worse; it was the right front (#6 ?) cylinder.

HHmmm..... Same cylinder for me too... Strange maybe a coincidink

thats exactly what I said too. "not that problem with THOSE heads"
on top of the fact it was a pain it was a saturday and from sunday to friday I worked and went to school. so I would've had no time and NO car. BAD!

Oh the initial problem was I broke a valve cover bolt i easy outed it and put a new one in. Then torquing the bolts down to 10 ft-lbs the very last valve cover bolt i torqued snapped F***. then this happened with the spark plug and the broken valve cover bolt was a slight inconvenience. glad I got the out of the way
