Spark plug Boots

Looking at Rock Auto, they list several different spark plug boots, the NGK are about half the price of Motorcraft. Is it wise to take advantage of the cheaper NGK or go with the OEM? I don't think I need them now but want to have them on hand in case one of the boots gets torn when I change plugs.

Always a good idea to change them even if they don't tear. I have not used NGK on this application but I have on many others and never had an issue with fitment or quality.

Don't. Order them from Amazon and save yourself the headache.

My car had 26K when I changed the plugs, and with all the gentle pulling and twisting, still managed to crack 2 of the 6 of my coil packs. Keeping the old ones for emergencies and testing - super plus.

Always use plenty of dielectric grease in the boot and anti-seize on the threads.

I did when putting on the new ones. Very thin and fine amount of antisieze, there are threads in other forums - arguing over if using antisieze on the use case of spark plus - can cause more damage to the heads in time. The dielectric - I did my best not to go overboard. The truth is - mine were installed by Ford, and had nothing but a pita getting them out.

II ordered them for my truck and got them locally at NAPA. The price differential wasn' that great and I needed them quickly for plug change when I was out of town--so no room for waiting for delivery. I could have returned them since none broke but I tend to keep parts that can need replacing often.

you don't need a set of 6. I have never seen all of them break at the same time. Maybe have 2 on hand.

I ordered my MSD coils packs from Holley. They are by far the best I have ever had.
