Ok after a hard night of "driving" my car is now sputtering. I spent quite a bit of time over 5k.

When I drive and apply anything more than 1/4 gas it sputters like it wants to go but it's holding back. It will do this all the way when the secondaries open up to 7k. When I cruise on the highway and i'm light on the gas it's fine. What ever this is it happened suddenly. Any ideas?

My first guess is plugs/wires. For all I know they are original to the car (130k miles), not sure though, I figure at least 70k at the minimum.

My second guess and more feared on it the cam tensioner at the back of on eof the heads.

Anyone else have this problem and if I need to get plugs/wires, where should I go on a Sunday? No Ford Parts places are open. Any off the shelf Autozoneish stuff ok to use?

I don't have any insight as to why your car was running the way it was, but if you need to get plugs/wires the cheapest place to get them from is Ford Parts Network.

Sputtering or misfiring is NOT normal no matter how hard you drive the car. If you did not see any CHECK ENGINE lights, the problem is most likely either the plugs or wires.

Wow things just get weirder. Well i'm sure it's my plugs and wires. I pulled them all and all I can say is damn!!! They had gaps ranging from .060 to .070!!! No wonder it's sputtering and talk about oil in the wells.....TO THE TOP!!! I cleaned them out the best I could....gapped them down to spec and it's running better.

On another note I pulled my foward valve cover and I was happy to know there was light carmeling and the cams looked perfect!!! boink

No more FORD dealership nightmares. (not a joke either! rant

RTV the foward three and now to order my parts and do it right!

So I guess you ordering the parts, and not coming to your scheduled appointment this past weekend (& not even responding to your confirmation email) means you don't want your 60k done after all Jason? It's all good because I have people on the waiting list & all, but it would have been nice to know one way or the other.

Best of luck with your SHO. Hope the plugs, wires & gaskets do the trick (they should).
