Source for AC compressors?

No one lists compressors anymore. I called up Ford and they weren't too sure if they could get the right one, quoted $399 for a new one that was just listed for a 3.0 Taurus, the parts guy said it didn't say in the listing that it was SHO specific. Anyone got a lead? I'm gonna need AC if I'm get road-worthy soon

Basically I'm looking to rebuild/repair the AC system in my 90. I'm looking for a parts list and best places to acquire them. Since I'll also have to replace the accumulator dryer, would one from a standard Taurus of any year work?

I ran into that problem allready.

I needed a new A/C compressor when I was switching over to R134A.

Mine was on the way out anyways.

I got a new one off of Ebay.com for about $89 new in the box.

It works great.

At www.carparts.com you can find one for $290.65 for a ready air 2103 (type 10p15f). Another thing I like about carparts.com is that they list the Taurus SHO seperately when doing part finds.

They're on eBay all the time for short money. Try searching (including descriptions) for 10P15F.

Most autoparts chains also carry them, but are usually in the $200+ range.

Try www.aircondition.com which is an Automotive A/C info server which will lead you to several A/C parts suppliers. Also try www.acsource.com.

Be sure to read the warranty and core deposit information. There are a couple of other A/C forums that may have recomendations regarding the qaulity of A/C remanufactured compressors.

For warrant purposes yoou should order the A/C compressor, accumulator/dryer, oriface line, oil and "O" ring kit, and cleaning solvent from the same suplier. The idea is to protect the compressor, and other warranted parts, by complying with the warranty. This way you have proof that the required parts were purchased and installed. Document the instalation and instalation procedures with pictures and a written report.
