As for the dirty engine bay.. I know haven't had the time to clean the car in a while.

IMAG0325

working 12 hour 24day shifts.. which is also the reason I am too lazy to pull the belts off to see if that eliminates the noise.

I was hoping someone might recognize it and share their experience :)

Edit: Pulled alternator belt off.. everything spins smoothly; no free-play. Started it up without belt, noise is still there.
think that leaves:
PS pump, water pump, idler, or valvetrain noise

holy dirty cars, Batman!

I think it will turn out to be a tensioner bearing, and my guess is the timing belt tensioner, but you'll have to pull it apart to find out.

I think i hear a very loose valvetrain and a squeek that will probably end up being the water pump.

thanks!

new dayco tensioner and belt few thousand km's ago, but will check it out. as far as the valvetrain i just did valve lash in feb; everything was adjusted to the tight side. noise seems most noticeable when hot. also, wp was done at same time as tensioner, no more than 20,000kms ago. looks like ill have to tear into it on days off.

thanks again
