Last Friday, get in the car to go to work - radio on... driving around 30-40MPH, I hear something rattling. Well, it's acorn season here on Long Island, so I figure the wind is pushing around an acorn somewhere. The more I drive it, the more I think it's in the engine pan. It's not related to bumps, engine RPM or road speed. If I go above 70, it stops. Under 20, it stops. So, ok, definitely not mechanical in any way.

Today, I bang on the bottom of the engine pan (lower cover, whatever the F you call it), and there's definitely something rattling around on it, so I pull it.

It's that GD Throttle body cover that pops off. I have pics, will post later. Car's got around 4500 miles on it ;)

One of the four tabs on it is broken, so I Gorilla Glue'd it and waiting for it to set. Once that's set, I'll silicone the entire thing back on the throttle body.

Sigh...

yes, but that involves waiting weeks for a loaner, and then who knows how long I'll be without the car.

Still looking - I thought I had it a few times, but it's still there. Sounds like an acorn blowing around somewhere.

I think my next thing will be to hose out the engine compartment near the firewall on the driver's side, banged on the wheel well liner, and stuff fell out ;)

yeah, I already checked, and nothing like that is happening ;) After the Nor'Easter we got here on Long Island yesterday, I haven't had the chance to check anything yet.

If you park under trees a lot of stuff can get down into the area between the windshield and hood. I always try to avoid parking under trees for that reason.
