Had to replace the rear turbo on my car. Figured you guys would enjoy some pics of the job.

Subframe removal was required to gain access to the turbo. Notice the EPAS unit on the subframe. The subframe removal was easy.

Notice the the restrictive downpipes. I couldnt get a pic but the exahust manifold looks really restrictive to.

This is the oil feed line. The filter is to be replaced with the turbo. The filter is only sold with a new line.

The hardest part of the job was the stupid heatshields. It was like a Chinese puzzle. Between the brackets, shields and limited space I think it would be very hard to get a larger turbo to work out.

Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Cheech....how many hours is that job?

Warranty pays about 5 hours plus alignment time. It took about that long to do. I would say customer pay time would be around 8-10 hours.

The car is to new to be listed in my customer pay labor book so that would be an estimate.

Thanks for all the info, but more importantly. What was the cause of the turbo replacement?

Thanks, do you what the cause of the failure was or just a random failure?

I don't think it is a common issue. Most turbo leaks happen on the early cars and it is usually the return tube gasket. I wasn't that lucky
