So who's not really impressed with the new SHO?

I love the 92-95 SHO's. I plan on buying one if I can get rid of my Audi A4 without getting *****.
I am partial to the '10-'12 body since I own one, but the '13's do have some tweaks I like.

I'm not digging the bumper cover on the 2013. I do wish Ford would've used the black mesh grill on the '10-'12's like they're going to do with the '13's. But I'm sure if I saw it in person, I would like it.

For example, I saw a 2011 300c SRT8 in person today and it is indeed a beautiful ride. All the pics I've seen of it until today, never impressed me.

I've owned numerous force inducted Fords from 84 SVO's to an 03 Cobra, I couldn't be happier with My 2010 SHO, it does a little bit of everything very well in my opinion. With a few tweaks, I would have a hard time any reasonable person would still consider it luxury as opposed to performance. I'm glad Momma ford gave us an AWD performance platform to work with, that still has room for the kids.

I'm surprised no one mentions one other difference between the new and old SHO's. The old Taurus' were HIDEOUS! I guess I never understood why anyone would want to make an ugly car fast when there are so many other fast cars that look good. For finally got smart and gave the Taurus a makeover.

I also prefer AWD since I like in a snowy climate so that is another thing which is a big improvement in my book.
Your taste sucks.

That is all subjective. In my opinion the 2010+ is one step away from being a crossover with it's sheer mass. However, that is my opinion. There sure are some pretty ones on this forum however.

I really liked how my old (and others) Gen 2 SHOs look. They were sleek as ****, and then the Gen 1s were just balls-to-walls fast back in the day for what they were. When the "controversial look" Gen 3 came out, which is what began my love for the SHOs, the V-8 sounded awesome! I didn't mind the front end but the rear end over time grew on me. And I felt the interior was nicer though than the previous Gens.

And now I'm in a Gen 4. I wish it could have came with a V-8 something fierce, but it is what it is. The AWD is a nice touch, as well as twin snails now. They all seem to have a place in line and everyone gets better year after year. Let's hope Ford keeps them around for us. ;)

I've had several people of various ages and races comment on how nice looking my 2011 SHO is. I've had it a year and a half. I had a 1998 SHO for 3 years, and in that 3 years one person told me they liked the wheels. And before that I had a 1993 SHO for 3 years and I only remember my parents telling me it was a nice looking car. I worked at the same place in the same community while driving all three of these.

The looks of the Gen 3 never really grew on me. I really liked (and still do like) the looks of that 1993 with the slicer wheels. But, my favorite is definitely the Gen 4.

Step away from this forum and you'll find very few people who EVER thought a pre-2010 Taurus was a good looking car.

Unlike most on here, I don't necessarily disagree with the aesthetics comment. If it wasn't for the Yamaha parts I would have never bought a Taurus.

You don't even need to step away from the this forum to find people who would agree.. When my friend first introduced the thought of buying an SHO for a project i shot it down because he said "Taurus".. I did some homework and decided too try it and i fell in love with the car.. Do i think its beautiful.. **** no..but its still a fun car..

Now, do i think the new SHO is sexy.. No.. Its an ok looking front end with a nasty, fat rear end.. But if i were to buy one it sure wouldnt be for looks... But again, its all opinion..

Yeah, because you must be 20. When the original SHO was new, it was viewed by many as a proper executive super-sedan. With the Gen II, there was some added differentiation. And I can GUARANTEE you, most of the people who rode in, or saw the car, admired it. It was PLENTY popular at Hampton Beach when I took it cruising.

So not only does your taste suck, but all your friends' must have, too...

All that being said, I love new cars. I don't have the same fondness for the Gen I, II SHOs as I once did, but they were quite awesome in their time...

And if memory serves, C&D or another of the big car mags did a compro against it's primary competion of the time, the BMW M5. Which not just equalled the performance of the much more expensive German, it did it for so much less money that the vote was in favour of the Ford.

Just personal bias, but when I compare the Gen 1 and the Gen 4, that's where I am disappointed. Not in the styling, or the feel, or even the performance, but that Ford set the bar so much lower than they did 20 years previous. If it competed in a similar market segment to which they did previously, I would have been excited. Unfortunately, they chose to compete with the mediocre luxury sedans on the market instead of the true sport sedans.

Is it better than a 525i? you bet, I'd chose the SHO over the BMW everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. better than an M5? not even close. But if I could afford an M5, i wouldn't even look at Ford. Then again, the new BM's are so damn butt ugly, I wouldn't buy one of them either...
