i'm not sure if this falls under engine or body/suspension but... damn those motor mounts. after snapping two of the bolts that hold them in within a week of each other, i decided to put the car up for the winter and bought an 87' jeep cherokee (lot's o' fun btw)... simple plan, till the jeep got stolen and bashed up. so i broke down and let the dreaded pep boys service department charge me $50 to screw a nut. ok, fine... now the brakes. rear passenger caliper is f-r-o-z-e-n. the disc looks fine, till you reach your fingers around the other side eek! so what i'm getting at: i've never done brakes before... anyone have any helpful hints?

You should replace the sliders and caliper bracket when you take everything apart. Most likely thats what caused your problems in the first place. Whey the sliders freez up the caliper can't self adjust. Also, you cannot just compress the piston in the rear calipers, they must be rotated to compress them. Autozone has an excellent loaner tool kit that you can get to compress the rear calaper (don't get one of those cheap cube shaped brake tools, they don't work)

Jelloslug, i would disagree about the cube shaped tool. I have done many brake jobs on several different makes of cars using this tool. What i do notice is that the tool is a bit akward. All you have to do is make sure the tool is aligned properly and that you hold your ratched evenly and make slow even twists (with master cyl. cover off of course.)Personally, i would hate going to Autozone to return the tool everytime i did my brakes. I guess its just preference though.

I would, however, like to thank you for your post history on several topics. You have saved me a lot of time and early grey hairs troubleshooting my car!!! I honestly think that i wouldnt enjoy my car as much as i do if this site did not exist!
