I was going to leave this alone BUT since you seem to be laughing at me, not with me then I feel the need to defend myself. Your statement above has some truth but lacks any context at all. I admit to taking some poetic license to make my point but I still have a valid point.

- First the context
The two statement made where "Buy the cheapest blank rotors you can find"and "Buy the cheapest blank rotors you can find, install them on your car an prove me wrong by having them fail"
- For the record I have several cars one of which is a 1999 Mercury Mystique which is my daily driver. I drive it everywhere but I seldom go over 80mph and if I had to replace the rotors on the Mercury I would probably buy a reasonably priced or even cheap replacement rotors. And you are right I am probably not going to have any issues.

My point was, and still is, I am not going to buy the cheapest of anything without doing some research, an since you take things very literally I will put it this way. I am not going to buy the cheapest rotors possible and have them fail (what ever that means) just to prove someone wrong. (ONCE AGAIN) What I am going to do is, Do my research an buy the best quality rotors I can afford for my SHO. Since you don't seem to understand why, unlike the Mercury which I barley see 80mph I often find myself going much faster in the SHO and having quality parts gives me piece of mind.

And exactly how do you determine that inexpensive rotors {what I call "cheap") are inadequate and inferior? Do you send them out to have them analyzed and xrayed?

If you see the same size rotor for $35, one for $55, one for $75, and one for $100, how exactly do you know that all of those weren't made in the same factory somewhere, and aren't the same part?

Or that those $150 drilled/grooved/slotted/sprinkled with pixie dust rotors did not begin life as the same $35 Duralast blanks?

You don't.

Just like car batteries. There's only about 4 battery mfrs in the country. Yet there are hundreds of batteries sold at different price points. And people swear that one is so much better than the other.

As I said before, over 20+ years of track days the ONLY rotor failures I've seen have been with aftermarket rotors.

Rotors are the not the most important component of better brake capacity. But, you all seem to think differently. Advertising by vendors really has turned your brains to mush.

Do you also run a $500 CAI because it's "so much better" than the factory setup with a $35 filter? ;-)

LOL @ the "pixie dust".

Oh Ronald....... I know when you are sprayed with pixie dust, you always somehow come out better than if not.

I mean look at you...... your smile radiates and exudes beyond the digital footprint which captured you here. This with just a small sampling of pixie dust peppered upon you.

Rawr you tiger...... go get you some! 10ab07843d136edf926b5b8bd79f9d6e

Agreed, which is why I typically stick to OEM replacements.

Buy the cheapest replacements you can find, but you have seen failures with aftermarket rotors? Do you mean aftermarket drilled/slotted, or aftermarket in general?
