Good luck with the insurance. On my new vehicles, I never had any claims, so I don't have a history on that case. I did not fare so well on my used vehicles though. My 96 Mustang convertible was stolen a month ago and I am being offered the princely sum of $4100.00. My only problem is I cant buy another one for that amount. So good luck.

My boss can sympathize with you. He has a brand new 2010 Camaro 2SS that was finally delivered a month ago, five months after he ordered it. Last week a big rock left a scratch on the roof (he said it was so loud he though he moon roof had shattered), and just yesterday one flew up and busted the bowtie on the nose.

That chip video is interesting.. but I'm not buying it. Granted I do a LOT of highway driving. I always avoid tailgating, especially dump trucks and the like. After just the first two weeks with my car, I have several noticable paint chips from road debris. I have since installed the 3M clear bra, which is doing quite well to deflect the debris. I should have put it on the windshield!

Just an update as well... I did get the interior all cleaned out today. No scratches, thankfully. The OEM glass should be in tomorrow or Monday and it should take a couple hours to install. My Amica Insurance Policy is covering evrything. They also offered to cover any interior part that was scratched during the clean up. As I said, the clean up went well.

What a nice story. Imagine getting good service from an insurance company.
There is something about new vehicles and scratches and dints. I have never had parking lot dints on any of my used vehicles, but every one of my new vehicles suffered badly. One incident left a strong crease in the raised part of the body where it goes over the wheel opening. Someone had to work hard to make that happen.

Thanks a bunch. As bad as that is and will be to deal with now, it could have been MUCH worse! That hunk of steel was headed right for my chest. Thank GOD it did not come through. Oh... and that absolutely is a CVPI, with the administrative package.

Imagin how this could have played out in a Huyndai/Kia/etc...!:angelnot:

Update: It's fixed! Glass for the SHO was just under $400.00, which I thought was quite reasonable. Although, I really have no concept of what windshields cost anyway. After two weeks I can drive it again!

That's great! I had the windshield replaced on my F-250 a few months ago. I don't remember how much it was, but IIRC, it was around $250. $400 probably isn't too bad given that it's the sound proof design and you're probably the first one to have it replaced. A couple years from now, I imagine they'll be a lot cheaper. It should have that sound proof logo on the bottom corner of the driver's side.

yes, it says SoundScreen. At this time there is no aftermarket windshield available.. not that I would have accepted one anyway... but FYI.

That's not bad--IIRC, I had to pay close to $500 to replace the windshield in my '95 about ten years ago.
