I went in today and completely re-worked my first post of the this thread. I moved things, edited things, added pictures, added links and post numbers, and hopefully made it easier for people that have questions.

Also.........a front splitter maybe on the horizon.....

That corroborates why I didn't feel any performance gains with the intercooler but the HPFP kicks ass. Looking for turbos next too.

This a ST post for those interested.

Couple of things.

I took the ST to CA this weekend. I have the AJPTurbo Flex Fuel Tune and well...... This is the first time I have actually got to put E85 in it. Holy crap what a difference. Ford really did it right with the ST and its ability for the tuners to be able to do things like this. However they really dropped the ball on the SHO.

Couple of takeaways.

When I run 87 octane it gets the best mileage by far. I use 87 on the long drives. I cruise at 91 mph in AZ, and 81 mph in Ca. Car gets roughly 25 mpg at that speed and really never see much boost unless I am passing. Even when I the car sees boost there is no knock. I have seen as high at 29 mpg at the proper speed limit. I don't want nor do I have the time to drive the proper speed limit, and either does anyone around me either.

I run 91 octane during the non summer months with a lot of freeway driving 70/30 split with in town driving. The ST is my daily. I am averaging just at 24 mpg with my peppy driving. The best I have netted is 27 mpg with non boost boring driving. Since the air is colder now I lean towards 91 because it makes great power and for my driving on the freeway it gets the mileage for my boost happy right foot.

I run E54 during the summer. I don't want to change my driving fun because of knock so she gets the corn during the summer heat. The mileage suffers, but the performance and my happiness remains. Best I can scrape with my normal peppy driving is 20 mpg. Mileage really suffers if I use my right foot heavy. I have seen it as slow as 18.5 mpg.

I ran a tank of E85 in Ca this past weekend. In CA E85 is readily available, in AZ only E54 is. Holy crap what a difference. The car was pretty stupid. Way noticeable power and a riot to drive. However, on long stretches of sustained 82 mph, she could only muster 19 mpg. However...the smiles per gallon were worth it. E85 was $2.89 a gallon, and 87 was $3.89. I probably broke even in price point per mpg but to see what the car can do on all fuels is pretty damn cool. Also I had ZERO cold start issues on E85 in low 30 degree weather as well. So that is always a plus!

Hats off Brad...once again you killed it.

For the SHO:

The splitter arrived and I will be working with Andrew (802SHO) on a couple of things with it. Should be fun. Looking to do a couple of things to the SHO in the upcoming weeks.

Splitter install on the stock chin spoiler coupled with a paint polish and another ceramic coating.

ST POST:

Ever since I took the car to CA it is getting 31 mpg on 87 octane with 80/20 freeway and surface street drving. I was filling up every four days, I now fill up roughly every six to seven now which has been really nice.

SHO POST:

I am getting a hold of my fabricator and seeing if he is interested in building an X pipe. If he does, then I will drop off the car and let him get after it. Of course I will throw her back on the dyno after and see what happens.

I also just bought a new a pair of SP542's and will replace them when I receive my MSD coils.

Andrew then posted a list of what else I have do.....

1) Cut H&R springs in rear
2) Install Front Chin Spoiler and Splitter
3) Tint/Smoke Headlights
4) Paint Correction/Re Ceramic Coat
5) Track (Time) Attack
6) Install Quad Exhaust tips

Yes on the ST. I was averaging right at 280 miles per tank. I always fill up at 1/4 because I know when the gauge hits that, I have roughly two gallons left in the tank. Now my average is roughly 31 and now at my regular fill up I have been going roughly 330 miles now.

I want to say, better throttle control, colder denser air, and winter blend fuel are the contributing factors to the increase.

I average 13.5 mpg in the SHO with mixed driving on E30. On the freeway it gets right at 20 mpg. On 91 the best I have seen in is 27 mpg averaging 82 mph.

Ordered some new 542 plugs, and it seems my MSD coils will be here before this weekend. I am going to install both items and report back. I want to get the car back on the dyno with new coils so see what happens.

I am taking the SHO for about an 800 mile round trip journey over Christmas as well.

I have sometime off over the holidays. So I am going to try and get somethings done.

Mainly getting the car re-paint corrected and re-ceramic coated, and I really want to work on getting my splitter mounted to my stock chin spoiler. If it doesn't work or I don't like it, then it will be added to my aftermarket chin spoiler sitting in my garage.

Also Kyle my fabricator friend, is down to build an X pipe for the SHO. So things keep moving forwards....slowly.

Those coils should net you the 400 whp you are looking for, as they're said to be good for 9whp. I think that's a **** of a deal for upgraded coils. If you can mount the Splitter to the factory lower plastic(cladding) you'll still have a decent ground clearance. The Duraflex Chin Spoiler is a lot lower but take it from me or Mike, maneuvering the car to not smash it isn't that hard but you inherit babysitter status ....always watching out for it. Take sharp inclines/declines in pavement at an angle never straight on. If unsure about something when parking, back in opposed to pulling in. Worth it to me so I just adjusted to it.

I'm excited to see this x pipe your buddy makes for you, he does awesome work. Maybe he can make two...one for me

Haha guys. Let me get mine to him and we can see what we can work out.

After the coils and plugs I will re dyno the car and we can see what happens.

After the x pipe is installed I will re dyno it again and we can see if you guys are interested. Pretty sure Kyle can make them bolt in like mine, but you guys will have to make a trip to the exhaust shop to have the flanges welded to your stock resonator and to the remaining catback.

Changed the plugs and added the MSD coils today. New SP-578's went in (As of 3/4/20 SP-542's are back in the car) and the car does idle better and feels a bit better on the big end. Good stuff.

I know of others ordering sp542 plugs on Amazon and getting those instead. From what I understand its not one step colder like the 542 is. But I don't know that for sure.

That looks good. Can’t wait for mine to come. What made you go with 578’s?
Andrew hit the nail on the head. The 542 were superceded by the 578's.
