Slipping timing belt

I finally got all the timing crap worked out and man does this car role out. But now i have a new problem Yay:woo-hoo:. The timing belt has slipped twice at full throttle once in 2nd gear and once in 4th. The timing belt Tensioner seems tight and i put on a new belt and it did the same thing again, So besides the tensioner what else could make the timing belt slip. Thanks!

When you install the new one , do you manually turn over the engine a couple times to see if you are still on your marks?

This is definitely the way to do it. If it's an MTX make sure to roll it twice to make sure marks are still aligned then reset the tensioner. If you set the tensioner while there was still slack on the right side of the belt your tension will be too low, which could lead to skipping a tooth under load.

Just make sure if you turn it over manually with just the lower timing pulley in place that you make SURE it is seated all the way back before putting on the crank pulley and torquing. Don't want to **** any woodruff keys

the car is a 93 mtx with a 3.2 swap and next time i will turn it twice but when i put the belt on i do push it back all the way. but it skips a tooth only under load and when it does it the belt slides over on the cam gears.

Yes like these guys say, spin it over twice before adjusting the tensioner so all the slack is taken up. Are the sprockets in good shape? Do the cogs have decent squareness to them? If they arent This would be the only way it could skip with a new belt and proper tension setting.
