Wrong. If it's not a direct replacement, drop in unit, the customer needs to know. There's nothing in the SHOSource listing that says it'll require modification to install, or that it won't look exactly like the stocker, but will fit and perform just fine.

FWIW, Summit sells the 526 pump only, and 526-1 kit, if someone wants to order an exact drop in replacement.

Up till now it has not been an issue but it can be corrected.

We will be offering the direct drop in.

They should. It is in their interest not to have to deal with after sales support when they can avoid it. And if their picture shows the stock pump and not the one they sell then they need to fix that.

This whole sentence should be removed too, especially since Walbro made the stock pumps:
And the last sentence in the description doesn't jive with the quote above:

The end of the description should just say "Good luck!" :nut:

ese particular pumps have been used for years with no problem. I have installed a couple them myself.

The stock pump is in refrence to SLO pumps that flow only 60.

That is a requirment by Walbro due to people sending pumps that do work.

Cool!

To clarify, the drop-in replacement PN 526 or 526-1 kit is rated at 140 LPH, while the PN 516 or 516-1 pump that had the fit issue on my car is rated 155 LPH. But.... things are not as they may seem!! According to Walbro Engineering, they are exactly the same pump. The only difference is the shape of white plastic top piece, and a RFI capacitor across the leads of the 516. The flow rate curves are identical, and that is what's important Walbro simply rated them differently on paper for reasons Walbro says are now lost to history.

It is possible that the bracket is slightly different for different model years. I can only report my fit observations. The 516 can be forced into the bracket. However, it's taller size causes the pulse dampener to be pushed askew, with the inlet and outlet at a slight angle and pressure on the dampener assembly. The electrical terminals end up very close, ~1/4", from the pickup tube. The pulse dampener can be removed and replaced with a section of hose, but Walbro Engineering said Ford Engineering was responsible for that and they were uncertain whether there would be any adverse affects if it was removed. It does seem likely Ford would have saved costs and not used it if it was not necessary, but who knows?

I installed the 516 probably a year ago. I wanted to reuse the stock dampener, but I just ended up using the hose that was supplied with some better clamps. I haven't had any problems. I felt safe enough leaving the dampener out after reading about them.
I'm pretty sure it was recommended to remove my dampener when I installed a 255 lph on my firebird.

:shrug:I ordered a 155LPH walbro from SHOsource and installed it no problems, no bending, no forcing what-so-ever. I didn't even need borrow any **** from Bab.

I had the same experience when I installed my 155lph a couple of years ago. I forget where I got it from, but it is the 516 model number.

Oh, and **** your TurboWagon.
